Aoni Village, Hakuba Overview
A shelf of thatched and shingled farmhouses above the valley, protected as an Important Preservation District, with terraced paddies that mirror the Hakuba range once they are flooded in late May. The road up is narrow and the village is lived in rather than staffed: park where signed, keep to the lanes, and do not walk into gardens or photograph residents.
