Coral Strand, Galway Overview

The Coral Strand is an intriguing coral beach that is an absolute eye-pleaser with its majestic and clear blue waters and unique coral landscape. For the intriguing part, the sand on this blue flag beach isn’t normal sand but biogenic gravel, and the corals are a form of coralline algae.

The Blue Flag beach is a perfect spot for paddleboarding, snorkelling and swimming and also to take gorgeous pictures of the rugged scenery which at times can be muse to an artist. The Coral Strand also has quite a few rocky pools and is located on the western side of the Carraroe Peninsula, about a 5-minute drive from the Carraroe village and just over 45 kilometres from Galway.
