The paintings depict instances from the life of Saint Manickavasagar, who was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. The temple roof is made of granite.

The sculptures in the temple is marvellous. There is no car parking area. The temple maintenance is also poor. It can be made one of the top tourist spot.
