Birgunj is a Nepali city which is based near the border of the Indian state of Bihar. It is a major point of entry for Indian goods trade. Birgunj also receives the goods coming in from the port of Kolkata. Located in the Terai region, Birgunj is the second-largest city after Biratnagar and the sixth most populated metropolis in Nepal.

Birgunj is a metropolitan city in Parsa District in Province No. 2 of southern Nepal. It lies 135 kilometres south of the capital Kathmandu, located in the north to Raxaul, although not a frequented destination on tourist itineraries, it is often a popular stopover for people undertaking treks in Nepal such as the Annapurna Base Camp and the surrounding mountains of Nepal.

This area constitutes a pretty pond surrounded by a garden known as Ghadiarwa Pond. It’s popular amongst Nepali youth as a hangout spot. The pond has a Hindu god situated in the middle and the locals can be found performing yoga, walking, cycling, or just simply sitting there during the morning. This place is also a destination during the Chhath Festival (Sun God Festival). Sometimes, even boating is allowed in the pond but the water is known to turn murky quickly so don’t bank on this idea.
