Batu Ferringhi Tourism

Batu Ferringhi is a resort town located near GeorgeTown of Penang Island, Malaysia. It is the prime beach destination of Penang due to Miami beach and is wrapped with reinvigorating water sports like sailing, parasailing, jet ski and banana boating. It bestows rustic relaxation next to bright white sand with long palm trees and wide blue sea.

Batu Ferringhi has a long, clean stretch of sand and lots of beach resorts dotted along it. Massages and Spas are the chief attraction here (expect to pay RM 40 for around a 30-minute massage). Another key characteristic of Batu Ferringhi are the night markets called as Pasar Malam. These markets offer a myriad of options to shop from, ranging from foods to handicrafts to clothes. 

Apart from water sports, Hiking to Chin Farm Waterfall is another major adventurous venture. Toy Museum and Lover’s Isle are some of the other famous stops among the tourists. Jalan Batu Ferringhi is the main road that holds the resorts, shops and restaurants that you can visit.

1. TeddyVille Museum Penang

TeddyVille Museum Penang
TeddyVille Museum is Malaysia’s first museum dedicated to rare and historic teddy bears. Located on the ground floor of the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, it has creative displays on origin of teddy bears. There are around 1000 teddy bears of various sizes and shapes from miniature teddies to human-sized teddys.

5. Penang National Park

7. Escape Adventureplay

Escape Adventureplay
Escape Adventureplay is an adventure theme park at Teluk Bahang in Penang. One of the best adventure park in Malaysia and specialising in zip-lining and other jungle activities, it has become a favourite among outdoors adventure seekers.

8. Chin Farm Waterfall

Chin Farm Waterfall
Also known as the Batu Ferringhi waterfall due to its connection to the Sunghai Batu Ferringhi river, the gorgeous Chin Farm waterfall is located on the island of Penang. The beautiful waterfall drops vertically down forming a small stream between the rocks at the base. There is a Chinese temple called Chin Waterfall Lam Thean Mui Temple close to this place. At the base of the waterfall is also a Chin Farmhouse offering fantastic views of Penang.

Food in Batu Ferringhi

Heterogeneous variety of restaurants from fine-dine to local food courts with a miscellany of delicacies ranging from Malaysian, Chinese to Asian can be spotted all around the city. Long Beach Food Court is the most famous among the tourists with a hawker-style setup. Furthermore, Pasal Malam is the best fit to taste local food at a reasonable price.

Night Markets of Batu Ferringhi

When in Batu Ferringhi, one can not miss the famous Pasar Malam which is a night sidewalk market. It starts after the sunset and runs till late at night. This particularly happens because the daytime temperature of Malaysia is high while it is cooler after the sunset. It is easier for people to go to these markets after working hours and tourists also prefer going at night after spending the day travelling. Such markets can be found all over the city, the most famous being Batu Ferringhi Night Market. One must always bargain at these Pasar Malam markets. They have a wide variety of materials to shop for ranging from clothes, food, toys to watches and accessories. They are like night-fairs with mini train rides for kids and snacks to eat while shopping.

  • There are a few ATMs in Batu Ferringhi. It is recommended to carry cash.
  • Batu Ferringhi beaches are home to jellyfish and precautions must be taken while hopping to the beach. Nevertheless, Water Sports are safe.
  • Expect some traffic. Batu Ferringhi road is prone to traffic as the major tourist destinations lie beside the road.
