Fashion Museum Bath, Bath Overview

The Fashion Museum, Bath has an immense collection of over 100,000 objects of clothing and fashion from the Shakespearean era to our era; roughly from the 14th century to the 21st century. Established in the year 1963, the Fashion Museum Bath is set within the walls of the Assembly Rooms of Bath. One of their exciting collections, “Glove Stories” is a collection of a range of gloves from different ages, preserved and up for exhibition. This exhibition is said to be for display only until March 2020, which may want you to double your chances of visiting!

History of the museum

  • The Fashion Museum Bath was formerly known as The Museum of Costume, started by a designer, writer, collector and scholar; Doris Langley Moore in 1963.
  • The Museum of Costume was renamed as The Fashion Museum Bath in 2007

How To Reach Fashion Museum, Bath

On foot:
You could find and print the pedestrian map on their website, a tool that could help you better. If that seems like a lot of searching, these directions are for you.
Begin your journey at the Bath City Center, walk up north towards Westgate Street and take a left into the street.
Walk the length of the road until to come across Wood Street, take a left at that street and turn right immediately onto Queen Street, continue walking.
You would come across a roundabout or a circle, take the first exit onto Bennett Street, and you would find the Fashion Museum to your right.

By road:

Car:
From north of Bath
The drive would likely begin from the Bath City Center.
The fastest route would be onto Monmouth Street that would go towards Kingsmead Square.
Take a right that would lead you to Chapel row.
Take a left and get onto Queen Square and stay to your right.
Further, take a left onto Gay Street at the 1st cross street, keep on Gay Street until you reach the roundabout.
Take the second exit onto Bennett Street to reach the Fashion Museum Bath, which would be on your right.
From south of Bath
Drive through the M4 or the M5 motorways. Reach Landsdown Park and Ride and, take a right onto Landsdown road.
Stay to your right to continue driving down the Landsdown road until you come across a crossroad, take a right onto Bennett Street and you would reach The Fashion Museum Bath which would be to your left.
Parking
As there are no parking facilities within the vicinity of the museum, you may have to street-park around the museum, which is limited to two hours only.
The charges for the same are approximately GBP 4.30, which is INR 379.49.
These car parking spaces are open 24 hours.
Parking facilities for the disabled are available in ample amounts in the City Center.

Bus:
The National Express avails bus from London Victoria and Heathrow and Gatwick airports. All buses arrive at the bus station and would take you a 20-minute walk to reach the Fashion Museum Bath. There are coach facilities as well, some of which drop off opposite to the Assembly Rooms on Bennett Street.
