Located in the Horta district, the Parc del Laberint d’Horta, or Labyrinth Park of Horta, offers peace and tranquillity. Easily referred to as the most beautiful park in Barcelona, it is proudly the city’s oldest, as constructed in 1792. It consists of beautiful flower beds and waterfalls.
Parc del Laberint d’Horta iwas designed by the architect Domenico Bagutti. It has excellent artistic gardening and even beautiful sculptures. Earlier being a family-owned garden, it was opened to the public in 1967 and had beautiful elements to see such as the Boxwood gardens, the labyrinth maze, domestic garden, romantic garden, and more. It is located away from the city squares and the best time to visit is during the months of spring and summer when the fauna is at its peak. During the years of its renovation, the elements of flower beds, waterfalls, squares, and lounging areas were added. Spreading across 55 hectares, it is a day’s adventure to explore every nook and cranny of this masterpiece. Visitors also make their way to a country house located in the park vicinity, which was built in the 14th century. This neoclassical inspired park is the perfect destination for both families and friends and must-visit of Barcelona City.
Courtesy to its name, the labyrinth is the most intriguing element for all visitors. The hedges form high walls through which visitors can walk around and find their way to the centre of the maze. While the tall green boundaries make it difficult to find both the centre and the exit, it is an adventure of its own. In the centre of the maze, the sculpture of Eros is kept. Visitors will also spot the beautiful and romantic inspired pavilion just beyond the labyrinth.
2. Romantic GardensThe Romantic Gardens are home to “the flowers of love”; the agapanthus plants. A garden with bursts of vibrant hues, the Romantic Garden was built in the 19th century and is a popular highlight of Parc del Laberint.
3. Boxwood GardensThese gardens were a late addition to the Parc del Laberint, but are popular for the camellias. Nature lovers make it a point to capture them during the peak of the season.
