Ayutthaya Historical Park is the UNESCO World Heritage-listed ruin complex of the former Siamese capital, sacked by a Burmese invasion in 1767. The park spans the old walled island and holds dozens of individually ticketed temple ruins, including Wat Mahathat, Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Wat Ratchaburana. More than 30 kings ruled from this city over roughly 400 years, a historical weight comparable to Hampi in India.
