Ao Nang is Krabi's main beach town, and it works mainly as a launch point: longtail boats from its pier run out to Railay, the Phi Phi Islands, and smaller islands like Koh Poda through the day. The beach itself is pleasant but not the highlight; what makes Ao Nang useful is having restaurants, dive shops, hotels, and a night market all within walking distance, which makes it a practical base for exploring Krabi's coastline. If you want somewhere quieter and more scenic to actually stay, Railay is a short boat ride away, but Ao Nang wins on road access and choice of food and accommodation.
Ao Nang is home to golden sand and aquamarine water. This makes it one of the most popular tourist attractions in Krabi. Even though it isn’t fully developed as a tourist city, this place surely has a range of water activities such as diving, ziplining, surfing, snorkelling along with a view of many neighbouring islands. What’s more, Ao Nang offers a great nightlife, something that is not quite seen in other towns in Krabi.
