Varsoli beach is one of the least visited beaches of Alibaug. It isn't visited by many tourists and hence remains less crowded than other beaches of Alibaug. Varsoli is a small village located on the outskirts of Alibaug, just 3 km away from the city center. Varsoli beach is a naval base for the Indian army, the base was set up by Sarkhel Kanhoji Aangre, in the 17th century while he was serving as a naval chief in Shivaji’s kingdom. The base is till date used by Indian Navy because of this strategic location.
Varsoli village is a satellite village where you can find the variety of indigenous people living on the outskirts of the town bringing together the various cultures. The region is mainly populated by the Konkans with the majority of people speaking Marathi.
