We were a family of 5 including one toddler and 2 senior citizens.Chamil, our travel agent, was very polite and professional throughout the trip. He was diligent in taking all reviews everyday. Kumara, our driver never felt like a third person. Went above and beyond to ensure we had the best of experiences. Provided many valuable insights. We loved our trip to Sri Lanka, which was only possible with Global Island. Chamil was very responsive when I was planning the trip from the U.S.
He was great at communication and made the whole process stress free. We saw and did some much with our time there [6 days]. We wish we even had more time. He assigned us the best guide and driver we could ask for- Mr. Kumara. When our flight changed, (Read More)this company made some adjustments and helped arrange last minute accommodations. Their customer service is beyond 5 stars!!! I highly recommend.

I would like to share our terrible experience with the Sri Lankan Travel Company, Global Island Pvt Ltd based in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The travel consultant we dealt with was “Kuma”, who resorted to thr (Read More)eats towards us and towards his staff in order to recoup money he felt he was owed.
The dispute was regarding the travel invoice. We paid his invoice in Sri Lankan rupees, as we had done in the past without incident, although the quote was given in USD. We did not gain any financial advantage by paying in rupees. Kuma did not specify that we had to pay in USD prior to payment, but after payment was sent, informed us that his bank account, although it was a Sri Lankan bank, only accepted USD. We then reversed and cancelled the payment, losing USD 200 in the process. We felt the fault was not totally ours, and offered to meet Kuma half way by paying an additional 100 USD over the invoice amount. However, instead of negotiating with us or launching legal action against us, which was his right, Kuma had his driver take us to Passikudah (7 hours outside Colombo) and then sent us a message that he was amending transport services to recoup his USD100, effectively threatening to leave us stranded in Passikudah, unless we paid him immediately.
He also advised his driver (with whom we had no contract) that the driver would not be paid his wages unless the driver could convince us to give him the USD 200 Kuma felt he was owed. This was despite the fact that we had already paid Kuma USD 680 for transport services. Kuma of Global Island Tours resorted to threats in order to recuop money, even threatening not to pay his hapless driver, who depends on his income to survive. Of course, we had no choice but to capitulate and we paid the driver and gave him additional moneys for his unnecessary distress at the hands of his boss, Kuma.i advise travelers to never use Global Island Tours for travel in Sri Lanka. I have already informed my friends and family to avoid Global Island Tours.

I contacted Kuma at Global Island from the UK to ask if he could arrange transport for our holiday around Sri Lanka. He was amazing. He provided us with a lovely, English speaking driver who was also (Read More)an experienced and knowledgeable guide. He picked us up from the airport and drove us around to all the destinations and hotels we had booked. In addition he made excellent suggestions of places we should go that we hadn’t thought of and he stayed in accommodation nearby to ours so he was ‘on call’ for the whole of our holiday. The vehicle was very comfortable and he even arranged some birthday surprises for our daughter. Communication with Kuma was very easy and efficient. I would highly recommend this company.
