Museum of Ancient Glass, Zadar Overview

Museum of Ancient Glass is a museum housing the extensive collection of ancient glass objects that traces the history of glass, located in the historical center of the Cosmacendi Family of Zadar. It is one of a kind museum not only in Croatia, but also worldwide for its approximately 5000 glass objects such as vessels, jewelry , mosaics and sculptures dating to antiquity.

It is an archaeological museum but specialized in ancient glass which deals with the study, preservation and exhibition of ancient glass artifacts. There are permanent collections which house approximately 1500 complete glass objects that are divided into eight thematic holes. Apart from these various workshops, temporary exhibitions and educational programs to give visitors a greater understanding of ancient art and so that they can admire the artistry of ancient glassworkers. In the glassblowing demo workshop replicas of Ancient Glass are made by using various techniques including glassblowing.
