People's Square, Zadar Overview

People's square is the center of public life and a vibrant gathering place surrounded by historical buildings including the city guard house, City hall and city lodge. It is a pedestrian friendly area and lined up with numerous cafes and restaurants .

On the Northern side we can see the city Guard, which is the large central clock tower built in 1562 and designed by Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli. Earlier, it was a museum and now it houses exhibitions and galleries and the clock was added much later.

The liveliness can be felt in front of this line which houses all the cafes and people can relax and enjoy the ambience here and this is the best way to interact with the local people and get familiar with their customs and traditions. Throughout the year various events ,performances and festivals take place making the atmosphere more lively. Visitors come here to shop, dine ,socialize and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the city
