Thirupudaimaruthur Temple, Tirunelveli Overview

Thirupudaimaruthur Temple is one of the oldest temples in the regions. The picturesque location at the confluence of the Gadana and Thamirabarani rivers make it a beautiful attraction. The temple was built in 650 BCE by King Maravarman. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva. The Shivalinga is said to be discovered when the king was hunting a deer who he believed was Lord Shiva in the form of the animal.
