Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary, Tezpur Overview

Bura Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary, located around 53 km south of Tezpur on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River, is a protected area primarily known for migratory bird sightings, particularly the Bengal florican. Some other bird species to look out for include the openbill stork, whistling duck, teal and black-necked stork. Considered a buffer for the Kaziranga Tiger Reserve, there are numerous mammal species to be found, such as rhinos, Asian elephants, wild buffalos and rare sightings of tigers.
