An archaeological remnant of Indonesian history, Trowulan is a picturesque historic town. Trowulan is said to be the former capital city of one of the most majestic kingdoms in Indonesia, the Majapahit Empire. This is an archaeological heritage site that is about 50 kms away from Surabaya. Tourists may take a day to explore the area, take photographs, and go for a picturesque drive.
Trowulan also happens to be the home of Indonesia's biggest Sleeping Buddha statue. The Candi Brahu Temple is also one of the biggest attractions in this area. This is one of the most well-preserved archaeological sites around South-East Asia.
