Church of the Visitation, Seremban Overview

Church of the Visitation is the first French missionary church of Seremban. The church was made in 1848 on 2-acre land which is surrounded by the tranquil panorama. Inspired by Neo-catholic architecture, the church houses a historical Parochial House, Visitation Hall, and Formation Centres. The main hall is decorated with mosaics and stained glass windows replenishing sanity in the prayers.

The Church of the Visitation strongly believes in the multicultural and multilingual vision, hence worship, ministries, and catechesis in four different languages, English, Tamil, Mandarin, and Bahasa during the mass prayers. Come during the mass prayers to dive into the spirituality and connect with the parish community in the Church's cafeteria.

History of Church of the Visitation

  • It is the oldest and first French missionary set up by Fr. Pierre Favre, a priest from the land of Malacca in 1848.
  • The priest was a visiting priest in the land of Seremban who came with a mission to set up a Parish community in the area. Then, till 1847, an establishment was settled around the surroundings.
  • In 1848, an "attap" chapel was temporarily made by Fr Hector Letessier for performing services and prayers.
  • During the time between 1883 and 1885, a permanent architecture was erected as an attap chapel and the priest named it as Church of the Visitation dedicating it to "Lady of the Visitation".
  • Later, in 1899, a proper church was constructed with an architecture inspired by neo-gothic architecture.
  • After that, in 1935, 1985, and 2009, some new additions were made like building the visitation hall, parochial house, and formation centres.

Bus: Board bus T50 from Nilai Square or Sepang. Deboard the bus at Padang Dewan Perbandaran Seremban stop which is just 7 minutes' walk away from the Church of the Visitation.
Train: The nearest LRT station from the church is Seremban LRT station which is connected by various neighbouring towns through Train 1.
Car/Taxi: Take a taxi from Kuala Lumpur or drive your car to reach the church located in the middle of the Seremban town.
