Don Hill Station, Saputara Overview

Nestled in Dang district of Gujarat, Don is a village hill station situated at an altitude of 1000 meters. It is the second hill station in the state after Saputara and also higher in elevation than the former. A day's trip to Don is enough to capture the rich bio-diversity of the hill station. Things to Do and Attractions Nearby 

The local population celebrates Don Mahautsav every year which also attracts tourists at large. Usually celebrated in February, the festival involves tribal songs and dances by the Adivasi population of the village, dressed in vibrant and colourful clothes.

The hill station also calls out adventure enthusiasts and backpackers for trekking and camping trips. One can also indulge in paragliding with professional paragliding operators.

The nearby village, Waghambe, located on the border of Maharashtra and a few kilometres away from Don can be visited if you want to see the beautiful Salher and Salota fort. The fort dates back to the time of Shiva Raj in Maharashtra and was later colonised by Britishers. There are a lot fewer amenities in Don than neighbouring Saputara. So consider staying in Saputara and visit Don only for a day's trip.

By air: The nearest airport is in Surat (173 km). You will have to hire a taxi from there.

By railway: The nearest major railway station is also in Surat. Less prominent ones are Khervadi station, Kasbe Sukene station and Waghai station.

By Road: There are several private car services from nearby cities Surat, Vadodara, and Vapi. If you wish to choose an economical option, there are also several state buses which go by Don.
