Grandview Park, San Francisco Overview

Grandview Park is a small overhead park in the Sunset District, San Francisco, California. The locales also call this park 'Turtle hill'. The park offers spectacular views of downtown San Francisco, Marin Headlands, the Pacific Ocean, and the Sutro Tower. It lies in the center of SF city, Regardless of the compact size, this 3.98 acres park holds botanical and geological significance.

Within the city, it hosts a habitat for various native dune plant species, involving some endangered species like the dune tansy, Franciscan wallflower, bush monkeyflower, and coyote bush. The hilltop fosters Monterey Cypress trees. You can also observe the exposed Franciscan chert rock, formed about 140 million years ago when the hill was a segment of the ocean floor.

You can access the peak area via the beautiful stairway, adorned with mosaic tiles. The park has a small network of trails, about 0.2 miles leading towards the hilltop. There are resting benches lined along the way. A great portion of the way to the top involves stairs. On your visit to the Grandview park, you are requested to stay on pathways only, to protect the delicate flora.
