It is a well preserved Roman Villa that suffered minimal damage in the eruption of AD 79
This grand villa is a good walk away from the main excavation site, but the long walk is worth it. One of the most intact villas, you can get a great idea how the people of Pompeii lived in the 1st century. The walls have dramatic and beautiful paintings, and the ovens and brickworks are truly well preserved and magnificent. The rooms also have most of their original splendour kept as is, and you can walk up close, and almost smell the flavour of the ancient Romans.
