Monkey Bay, Phi Phi Islands Overview

Monkey Bay, locally known as Yong Kasem Bay, is a popular snorkeling spot on Koh Phi Phi Don Island. Located near the entrance to Dalum Bay, the bay represents a small, shallow cove with a fascinating coral reef some 50m from the shore. The bay cannot be accessed on foot. Sailing on a paddle boat, longtail boat, or canoe or as part of a Phi Phi Island tour package is the only way to explore Monkey Bay.

The bay gets its name from the hordes of Macaque monkeys who live near the beach and are often keen on snatching away belongings from the tourists. Be careful of the monkeys. While some can be friendly, others can be quite violent if approached. Avoid making direct contact with the animals or feeding them by hand. If you want, you can leave fruits at a distance and they will surely come to pick it up.
