Spa World, Osaka Overview
Spa World is a large hot spring theme park in Osaka's Shinsekai district, split into "Europe Zone" and "Asia Zone" floors that swap between men's and women's sides monthly. It houses 17 differently themed baths modeled on baths from Rome, Greece, Finland, Bali and other countries, plus saunas, ganban-yoku stone-bed spas, and a swimming pool area with water slides. Open since 1997, it operates admission-based access around the clock. Note: the facility enforces a strict no-tattoo policy for all bathers.
Located near Tsutenkaku Tower in Osaka's Shinsekai neighborhood, Spa World bills itself as one of the world's largest hot spring complexes. Two multi-floor zones, Europe and Asia, each contain about eight or nine themed bathing rooms recreating styles such as Roman, Finnish, Balinese and Turkish baths; the zones alternate by gender on a set schedule, so which one you can enter depends on the month and your gender. Beyond the baths, the complex includes ganban-yoku stone saunas, a separate mixed-gender pool floor ("Spa Pool") with slides, massage services, a food court, and an attached hotel. Admission is charged from 5 a.m., and the baths run 24 hours daily.
