Moana Park Winery, Napier Overview

The Moana Park Winery is a small, state-owned vineyard that naturally produces internationally renowned and loved wine styles. In addition, the vineyard is known for producing vegan and vegetarian wines free of allergy-inducing additives. Visitors are allowed to bring their picnics to the venue. The Moana Park Winery is also known for hosting many local and private events on prior bookings, such as weddings, dinners, etc.

The winery also offers memberships to patrons of the estate, such as the A-List Exclusive Membership and the Hardcase Club Membership. In addition, the facility is well known for its collections of wine styles, such as the Estate Series, the Single Vineyard Reserve, the Vintage Project, and the Whale Islands - By Moana Park.

Cost and Entry Timings

The Cellar Door opening hours for the winery are separate for the winter season and the summers. The timings for winters run from midday to 5:00 p.m. daily, wherein winter lasts from Easter Day to the Labour Weekend, and from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily during the summer season. The Moana Park Winery remains closed on public holidays and if the venue is closed on any other day, the same would be updated on social media and the official website of the winery. Sampling and touring options that are available for the visitors range from $5 to $30 depending upon the requirements of the individual or group.

Events

  1. Another Day in Taradise: The event will be taking place on the 11th of January, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and visitors are free to enjoy the event without paying any admission fee. The event takes place annually to commemorate the anniversary of the Moana Park Winery, and the year 2020 would be marking the 15th year. Locals and tourists gather together to enjoy the wine tasting of the winery’s special collections and enjoy the band that plays constantly for their entertainment. 
  2. Kai Moana at the Park: The event will be taking place on the 26th of April, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and the visitors are required to pay an admission fee of $20. The casual event portrays the typical culture of Hawke’s Bay with stalls lined with delicious seafood and Award-Winning Moana Park wines available for tasting along with live music present at the venue. 

Wines

The most well-known wine present at the estate is the Big and Small Chardonnay. The Estate Series has wines like the Estate Series Chardonnay, Gewurztraminer, Merlot Malbec, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Rose, Syrah, Viognier, PF Series Pet Nat, and the Ver Jus. The Single Vineyard Reserve comprises of wines like Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah, and Pinot Noir. The Vintage Project wine is one of their best-tasting and expensive wine styles. The Whale Islands collection is Moana Park’s exclusive series that was made in honor of the supernatural being of the Sun, Maui.

How To Reach Moana Park Winery

The Moana Park Winery is located on 530 Puketapu Road in Taradale and can be reached via both private and public forms of transportation. There are four streets that visitors can opt for while traveling by private or rented cars from Napier, namely the Prebensen Drive, Kennedy Road, Meeanee Road, and the Taradale Road. A regular route 12 bus leaves from Napier and Hastings daily, two of these buses leave per hour every weekday and the last bus from Napier leaves at around 6:00 p.m. For Saturdays, the service remains hourly but on Sunday it shifts to once every two hours. Plenty of parking space is available at the venue.
