Marine Parade, Napier Overview

Marine Parade, located in Napier, New Zealand, is an iconic seafront with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean where you can catch sight of tourists and locals taking a stroll. Originally developed as a wall for protection of the city against flood, Marine Parade has now turned into a popular spot for scenic observations along with an array of facilities housed here, like the Pania of the Reef statue, National Aquarium of New Zealand, Sunken Gardens and the MTG Museum Theatre Gallery.

Initially built in 1889 as a sea wall to keep the area of Hawke's Bay safe from flood, Marine Parade in Napier, New Zealand, is a popular tourist attraction today. It is considered the town's pride with beautiful landscapes, picturesque views of the Pacific Ocean, and significant spaces present here. This wall was originally 3 metres in height. Still, the earthquake of 1931 raised the beach land by some metres, thereby protecting Marine Parade from the possibility of floods in future and laying out room for renovation and construction here.

This beautiful structure on the coast side has a well-known pathway for the locals and tourists here to take a stroll on and is located almost adjacent to Marine Parade. Evenings here are pleasant for strolls amidst the stunning views of the ocean and the facilities built up nearby in the southern entrance of the Parade. The space includes – the National Aquarium of New Zealand, Sunken Gardens, Pania of the Reef Statue, War Memorial Centre, the MTG Museum Theatre Gallery, a skate park, a BMX bump track and a basketball court among others.

Marine Parade is a hub of great activity in the morning as well as night hours with a great number of cafés, restaurants and bars and it has turned into a popular spot for the runners and cyclists, and even for the ones who wish to take a walk because of its beautiful seaside path giving out the view of the Pacific Ocean.

How To Reach Marine Parade

You can drive here from Napier city via the Vautier Street and Marine Parade or take a walk from the city till here via the Edwardes Street which takes about 12-15 minutes.
