The Birthplace of New Zealand’s wineries, the Mission Estate Winery, is a grand wedding, reception and conference space in Napier. With over 160 years of wine excellency as the premier element, the Mission Estate Winery is also frequented due to its beautiful surroundings and calm ambience.

Established over 160 years ago, the Mission Estate Winery is the oldest in Napier City. A symbolic Hawkes Bay point, the Estate was founded by the French Marist missionaries in 1851. ‘The Chapel’, a large wedding reception venue in the Winery, adorns a beautiful structure overlooking the well-maintained lawns. It is an ideal spot for receptions, and the restaurant certifies for the best wines and service. An award-winning winery, Mission Estate Winery also hosts a diverse range of activities like wine tastings, walking through the vineyards and wine-producing facilities.

Monday to Saturday - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

10:30 AM to 9:30 AM 
Lunch: 11:30 AM to 2:15 PM
Dinner: 5:30 PM onwards
Closed on Good Friday and Christmas.

Two-course Lunch - NZD 57 per person
Three-course Dinner - NZD 75 per person
The prices are subjected to change in the season menus. 
There is a separate menu for kids below 12 years of age and the price marked accordingly.

The Chapel

‘The Chapel’ is an elegant reception point adorned with high vaulted ceilings and arched windows. Alongside this little structure are the beautiful lawns and a covered terrace making the Mission Estate Winery a calm and romantic space for the ceremonies.
A restored elegant seminary building, the Cellar Door is a walk down the history of this Winery with photographs in-store and ends with the tasting of wines through their exclusive selection.

Things to Do in an Around the Mission Estate Winery

Some of the activities at the Mission Estate Winery are the Napier Afternoon Wine Tour, Napier Wine Tour with Chef’s Platter and the ‘Small Group’ Cruise excursion. At the Small Group Cruise excursion, tourists visit various spots around the city including the Winery. Wine tasting sessions and guided facility visits explain the history and the estate wine-making. Along the driveway here is a row of Muscat grapes, grafted from the original vines brought by the French founders of this place.

Present Location

Due to natural calamities and devastations, the location of the Winery was changed to the present day Taradale Hills. There are also accommodation spots available for the visitors who wish to stay here in the Mission Farmhouse in an elegant three-bedroom space in the vineyards.

How To Reach Mission Estate Winery

You can take the train from Pak n’ Save in Napier City till the Winery on Church Road, from where it is a 5 minute walk to the Estate. You can also take a car from Napier till here via Prebensen Road or via Kennedy Road or via Taradale Road.
