Neuschwanstein Castle, Munich Overview

Neuschwanstein Castle, located in Schwangau, is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Germany and is located on a hill. You would surely recognize this 19th century castle at first go, which served as an inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle.

The castle is built in a Romanesque revival architectural style. The fairytale experience it offers will leave you spellbound, accompanied by audio guides in multiple languages. Visit Hohenschwangau Castle, the home of King Ludwig ll of Bavaria located nearby, which is highly recommended. It is mandatory to book your tickets online in advance as there are no ticket counters available in the castle. The construction of the Neuschwanstein castle began in 1868, but the king never got to see the Castle completely, and the structure remained incomplete. Even today, visitors get to see the incomplete interior of the castle. The castle was opened to the public just after 7 weeks of King Ludwig ll's death in 1866.
