Maasai Village Tour or Boma Tour is a golden opportunity to get a glimpse into the culture and lifestyle of the Masai tribal group who live in southern Kenya in Masai Mara. The visit usually includes visiting a traditional Masai home, singing and dancing with the locals while learning about their daily life and exploring the handicrafts market where the locals sell their craft items.
Visitors are typically greeted by Masai warriors and welcomed by the community elders. They are often included in the famous ‘jumping dance’ circle, a rhythmic call and response singing performed by the members. In addition, guests can participate in Masai’s everyday tasks such as cattle grazing, milking the cows and cooking traditional meals such as Ugali on an open fire. The proceeds from the visit go directly to the community who use it for healthcare, education, etc. and the money from the handicraft sales is used by women to start self-help groups.
