Kyoto Tower, Kyoto Overview
A 1964 observation tower directly opposite the station's Karasuma exit, with a deck at a hundred metres. Its real use is orientation on arrival day, since it is a two-minute walk from where the train drops you and stays open until nine. It is an ordinary observation deck rather than a sight in its own right. The basement public bath closed for good in 2021.
The Kyoto Tower, standing at 131 m, is one of the few modern landmarks in Kyoto. Visitors may go visit the Kyoto Tower for a 360 degree view of Kyoto, and the tower is complete with shopping complexes and restaurants on the bottom floors, with a public bath in the basement.
