An ode to the Kuwait citizens, military and allied forces that were martyred to expel the Iraqi perpetrators from Kuwait.
Located in Shuwaikh, this memorial museum captures the morbid period of the first Gulf War in 1990 - 91. The exhibits comprise a set of crafted city models that are stamped in time with recordings in both Arabic and English. The Invasion Tunnel recounts the story of Saddam's invasion and annexation of Kuwait, dramatized with light and sound effects. The Hall of Martyrs is a tribute to all the valiant soldiers of war, with a special section dedicated to the Allied and NATO forces. The museum also showcases several artefacts which are remnants of the war. As you walk from one room to another, its as if the walls resonate the blasts and machine gun firing, and you cannot come out unperturbed. However the museum does not stand as evidence to tyranny, but as a beacon of hope that oppression cannot triumph.
