Al Sadu House

Al Sadu House, Kuwait City Overview

The Sadu House is a unique museum, a marked departure from the usual collection of artefacts and antiquities. It exhibits Bedouin style of weaving, Sadu weaving. The rooms in the museum are an insight into the traditional weaving technique and its history.

Bait Al Sadu was formerly a traditional Kuwaiti house next to the National Museum on Gulf Road. The Al Sadu Society was established to preserve these Bedouin crafts from extinction. The Sadu weaves emphasise the nomadic lifestyle of the Bedouins and incorporate aesthetic symmetry. You will be able to see the fine metal work and embroidery used to embellish the outfits and even the traditional looms that wove magic. The museum is accompanied by a souvenir store that sells wall hangings, bags, rugs, home decor items etc, proceeds of which go to the local weavers.
