Kudremukh Peak Trek, Kudremukh Overview

At an altitude of 1894 m above sea level, the Kudremukh Peak is a paradise for trekkers and naturists alike, with its mountainous paths and floral and faunal diversity.

The scene from the peak is breathtaking with the view of the skies and clouds over the Arabian Sea. One of the unique characteristics of this trek is the myriad landscapes that it offers en route, ranging from tall bamboo shrubs and shola forests to gushing streams and rolling hills. The peak is located in the Kudremukh National Park which is rich in flora and fauna.

1)You need to obtain a permit from the Reserve Forest Office for approximately Rs 200/-

Water availability

There are fresh water streams on the way however it is advisable to carry your own bottle for safety.

Trek Routes

Kudremukh has a number of different trekking routes. These trails vary in difficulty level and you select them according to your comfort level. The nearest village is Kalasa from where you can seek accommodation. From Kalasa you can either hire a jeep or trek to the base camp at Mullodi. It is a 30-40 minutes drive and it is advisable to take jeep since the road has a lot of slush. The identification landmarks for Mullodi are the Somavathi falls on the right and a localiteƕs house on the left. Two identification marks on the trail up are Lobo's House and Ontimara.

  • Rail: The nearest railway from Kudremukh is at Mangalore which is located approximately 130 kms away

  • Road: The best way to access Kudremukh by road is to take a bus from Bangalore to Kalasa from where you can take another connecting bus to Balegal.
