Trekking to Chiling Waterfall

The adventurous 2 kilometers trek along the river to Chiling Waterfall starts right from the Sanctuary Admin Office at the entrance. The trek involves crossing the river 6 times. At some points of the trek, you'll have to wade through the river to cross it. In total, it will take you around 1 hour to reach the waterfall.

The first river crossing has been made easy by building a suspension bridge across the river. After crossing the suspension bridge, you'll come across a 4-way junction where you must take a left turn. Otherwise, going straight from the crossroad will lead you uphill at a clearing where you'll get some impressive views of the hills.

After taking the left turn, walk for around 40 minutes till you reach the next crossing. Here at the peaceful walk, you'll find large puddles of water and some intriguing species of flora and fauna like wild orchids, pitcher plants, bamboo and Malaysia's national butterfly - Raja Brooke Birdwing - and lots of fish in the river.

Further all the river crossings are well-marked and numbered with blue signboards, are increasingly deeper and located close to each other. After the 6th crossing, Chiling Waterfall will come into sight. Do look out for bees and monkeys!

There are 2 more waterfalls here. Just before the 6th crossing, continue your path up the steep slope and you'll reach the upper waterfall. You'll pass the middle-level waterfall on the way, however, it is inaccessible.

How to Reach Chiling Waterfalls

Chiling Waterfall is located on the way to Fraser's Hill from Kuala Kubu Bharu and is just 20 kilometers from the latter. The free parking area is located right next to the small steel bridge over Chiling River. The entrance is on the right side.

Need to Know

  • There are no vendors along the trek, so bring enough water and food. Vendors and food stalls are located near the park office.
  • At the 6th crossing, the water easily reaches the waist. So, bring water-proof backpacks.
  • There's a campsite at the field near the entrance. Camping and lighting bonfires is not allowed after crossing the very first suspension bridge. There are some toilets as well near the park office.
