Tangmarg, Gulmarg Overview
Tangmarg is a small town located almost 13km from Gulmarg. Known as the gateway to Gulmarg, Tangmarg has options to stay, rent snow gear for Gulmarg and take a chained union taxi during the winter months. Tangmarg is also a major stop for all buses travelling from Srinagar to Gulmarg.
Must Know Before You Visit Tangmarg
Note :
- Chai taxis to Gulmarg and Sonamarg can be availed from Tangmarg.
- Buses also ply only until Tangmarg from where you can avail cabs/taxis.
- Boots and Snowjackets can be rented from here if you're taking the Gondola ride. Price ranges from INR 200-300 each.
- Drung waterfall can only be accessed through ATV or the chain taxis which are only available in Tangmarg. It costs around 2000-2500 to hire a cab for Durung Waterfall and similar for Gulmarg. It is not required to hire these taxis during summer.
- Since there are limited hotels in Gulmarg and Sonamarg, it's recommended to make a prior booking in a hotel in Tangmarg.
