Bhimesvara Temple, Kakinada Overview
Another important temple in the area situated in Samalkota, Bhimesvara Temple is known for its unusual architecture. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the temple is built in rectangular shape with the idol of the lord placed in the middle.
One will see a 'kappa stambham' or a monolithic pillar in the western side of the structure. Constructed in almost similar style to that of Bhimeswara Temple of Draksharamam, the temple also adorns myriad of inscriptions which suggests that the village has once been the known as Chalukya Bhimavaram.
