Nivedita Setu , Howrah Overview

Nivedita Setu, also known as Second Vivekananda Setu, is situated in Howrah, Kolkata. This bridge often that acts as an extension of Belghoria Expressway connects major highways NH 2 and NH 6 to NH 34 and NH35. Nivedita Setu often appreciated for the architectural expertise displayed in its construction, is a cable-stayed bridge. With the purpose of reducing the intensity of daily traffic in the area, the bridge has an impressive average capacity of 48000 vehicles a day. This bridge is likely to be a memorable feature of your travels within the city!

After three years of construction, Nivedita Setu, which has a length of 880 meters and a width of 29 metres, was inaugurated on July 2007. The bridge, constructed by Larsen and Toubro is named after Sister Nivedita, a follower of the revered Swami Vivekananda. It has also been recognized with the honour of an  Award of Excellence from the American Segmental Bridge Institute, USA.
