Gori

Gori is a city in Eastern Georgia, located in the Shida Kartli region. It is approximately 80 km from the capital, Tbilisi. Gori is a great tourist destination with its rich history, stunning landscapes, and culture.

Gori is perhaps most famous for being the birthplace of Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union from 1924 to 1953. The Stalin Museum in Gori is one of the city's most well-known attractions, including exhibits related to his life and the history of the Soviet Union.

Located not far from Gori, this is an ancient rock-hewn town with caves and tunnels dating back to the early Iron Age. Once an enormous cave city, Uplistsikhe Cave Town is one of the oldest places of settlement in the Caucasus. It's a fascinating archaeological site. Scholars, historians, and visitors interested in 20th-century Soviet history often come to Gori to study these aspects.

Other notable attractions include the 7th-century Gori Fortress, a partially reconstructed oval citadel on a cliffy hill, and the Ateni Sioni Church in Gori is known for its medieval frescoes.
