Municipal Library, Goa Overview

Municipal Library was established in 1883 during the Portuguese rule. The library was initially known as Athaide Municipal Library and was dedicated to Fr. Francis Athaide who devoted all his life to educate the youth in the region. In 1968, after the enforcement of the Municipality act, the library was handed down to the Mapusa Municipal Council. The library houses over 25000 books and has over 6000 members.
