Gourmet cheese

Coonoor is now also famous for selling gourmet cheese. Acres Wild Cheesemaking Farm specialises in making Gouda, Colby, Monterey Jack, Cheddar, Haloumi etc. If you want to have a tour of the farm or stay and learn cheese-making, just call the owner Cedrik to help you direct towards the farm. You can buy these delicious cheeses from a popular, local vendor, 'Nilgiris Store' or 'Baker's Junction' just 100 m from Bedford circle.

Unique furniture

Vriksh, a quaint little furniture shop tucked away in a small, hidden lane has intricately carved teak trunks, pretty side tables and ceramic work. It is located in Bedford, just a few meters ahead of Taj Garden Retreat, on Kotagiri Road. They have elegant British tea sets and vases. Although the furniture is locally made and fairly expensive, it is unique and worth the price. Only one setback, they don't do deliveries. So, plan your purchases accordingly.

Miscellenous things

For beautifully embroidered linen, head towards Needlecraft in Singara Tea Estate. They have hand-embroidered pillowcases, cushion covers, bedspreads, bed sheets and handkerchiefs, all highly prices, though. For tea, spices, honey and jams, ask your hotel to recommend you a few shops. They know the best ones around! You can also visit Green Shop, popular for selling high-quality honey and spices. It is located in Jograj building near Bedford Circle.

Tips For Visiting Shopping in Coonoor
