Chios

Chios, the fifth largest island in Greece, is located 8km off the Turkish coast, in the Northern Aegean sea. The island is known for its scenery, good climate, incredible views, picturesque villages, and emerald blue sea waters. It is popular for Mastic gum which is exported throughout the world but is only cultivated and grown in southern Chios.

Home to a turquoise blue sea, black rock beaches, castles, fortresses, and mountainous terrains, Chios is a natural blend of culture and history. With the uninterrupted beauty of Mastic groves and limited tourists, Chios is a perfect getaway to immerse oneself completely in Greek culture. Not only museums and historical landmarks, but Chios is also home to some of the most stunning secluded beaches in the country.

Housing an 11th-century monastery, Nea Moni, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Chios attracts tourists with its well-preserved natural environment and dramatic landscape. Hiking and exploring small hamlets that teleport one to the mediaeval era is one of the most popular activities in Chios. The main tourist centres on the islands are Chios town, Karfas(in the South) and Vrontados(in the North), where one could find all sorts of staying options along with several bars, nightclubs and discos. Karfas is home to some of beautiful sandy beaches and boasts water activities such as pedal boating, windsurfing and water skiing.
