Walking Street, Chiang Rai Overview

Chiang Rai has two walking streets lined with shops and food stalls that come alive on the weekends. Thanalai Road on Saturday evenings and San Khong Noi Road on Sunday evenings become pedestrian after sunset. Both streets have many stalls for artifacts, handicrafts, clothes, jewelry, accessories, and souvenirs. The Sunday market has stage performances and live dances opposite Wat Cetuphon Temple.

The Saturday Market has three distinct zones. In the first one, you will find handmade objects by local communities of ethnic groups. The second one is for valuable artwork and handcrafted accessories. You can buy clothes, electronics, and other souvenirs in the third one. The Sunday Market is more known for its food stalls. Lines of vendors selling authentic Thai street food and your familiar comfort dishes such as pasta, pizza, burgers, and fried chicken. A little further away from the street stands the famous clock tower of Chiang Rai. Do visit if you have time.
