Memphis

Memphis holds a significant place in history as it was once a thriving ancient city located 19 kilometers south of present-day Cairo. Today, the village of Mit Rahina stands in its place, housing the must-visit Museum of Memphis. Although there is not much left on the site, Saqqara and Ramesse II standing statue are must see. It is a UNESCO Site.

Saqqara, the known necropolis of Memphis, is another major attraction, boasting the iconic Step Pyramid of Zoser. This site is remarkable as it is the world's first and one of the oldest large stone structures. At the Memphis Museum, travelers can immerse themselves in the open-air exhibits showcasing the remnants of the ancient city. The museum houses a diverse array of archaeological treasures, including sphinxes, colossal statues, and obelisks. Notable highlights include the Colossus of Ramses II, a striking limestone statue, and the Alabaster Sphinx, sculpted in honor of Pharaoh Hatshepsut. Additionally, visitors can explore the remnants of the Great Temple of Ptah, offering a glimpse into Memphis's former grandeur.
