One of the lovely beaches in Sumberagung hamlet, Pesanggaran Sub-District, is Wedi Ireng. It is situated about 3 km away from Pulau Merah or 65 km south of Banyuwangi town. One can call it a typical virgin beach as many tourists don’t visit it, so it is untouched and clean. The location is slightly difficult to reach but completely worth it. The name ‘Wedi Ireng’ is because of the colour of its sand, which literally refers to black sand. So although the beach has white sand on the surface, it appears black when dug.
