Twenty minutes east of the city and more than a wine region, though the cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot are good. Hahndorf, Mount Lofty Summit and the Botanic Garden all sit inside it, which makes it the one day trip that works whether or not you drink. Winding roads, cellar doors and hill towns within half an hour of the CBD.
