Day 1 Arrival in Moshi

  • Transfer to Springlands Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
  • After breakfast, embark on a 5-hour drive to Londorosi Park Gate.
  • Along the way, you might have the opportunity to spot Kilimanjaro's wildlife on the Shira plateau.
  • Arrive at Londorosi Park Gate and start your trek to Mti Mkubwa Camp.
  • The trek lasts about 3 hours and covers around 4 kilometres, taking you from an altitude of 2,200 meters to 2,600 meters.
  • Enjoy a packed lunch on the trail to refuel.
  • Upon arrival at Mti Mkubwa Camp, your dinner and campsite will be ready for you to settle in.
  • Start with breakfast at Mti Mkubwa Camp.
  • Begin your trek to Shira Camp 1, climbing from 2,600m to 3,600m.
  • The hike covers about 10km and takes around 4-5 hours.
  • Keep a steady pace for acclimatization.
  • Enjoy the scenic views, including Kibo volcano.
  • Have lunch during the hike.

  • Rest, soak in the surroundings, and prepare for the challenges ahead.
  • Dinner will be served at Shira Camp 2 as you unwind.
  • Kickstart your day with breakfast at Shira Camp 2.
  • The journey continues as you head towards Barranco Camp, gaining altitude from 3,840m to 3,940m.
  • You'll be covering approximately 11km today, and the trek usually takes 7-8 hours.
  • The route leads you into a semi-desert and rocky terrain surrounding Lava Tower.
  • After about 5 hours of walking, you'll reach an altitude of 4,600m.
  • A designated area provides the perfect spot for lunch.
  • Post-lunch, you'll begin your ascent up the rocky scree path to Lava Tower.
  • Following lunch and the challenging climb, descend about 680m to reach the Barranco camping area.
  • As you descend, you'll have opportunities to capture stunning photographs of the Western Breach and Breach Wall.
  • Barranco Camp is nestled in a valley beneath the Breach and Great Barranco Wall, offering a memorable sunset.
  • Dinner will be prepared at Barranco Camp as you prepare for a good night's rest.
  • Have an early breakfast at Barranco Camp.
  • Embark on a hike to Barafu Camp, ascending from 3,960 meters to 4,640 meters.
  • This day involves covering around 11 kilometers, typically taking 7-8 hours.
  • As you proceed, you'll notice the landscape becoming stony, narrow, and exposed to persistent winds.
  • The summit, Uhuru Peak, awaits at a further 1,345 meters up, and you'll be making the final ascent during the same night.
  • Retire to your tent at Barafu Camp around 19:00 and aim to get at least 5 hours of rest before the summit push.
  • Rise around 23:30 for your summit attempt.
  • After a light meal, start your climb towards the summit, Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
  • The ascent takes you through rocky scree and heavy snow, reaching Stella Point (5,685m).
  • Pause briefly to enjoy a breathtaking sunrise (weather permitting).
  • Continue the 2-hour trek to reach Uhuru Peak.
  • Spend some time at the summit, but be mindful of the cold and fatigue.
  • Descend to Kibo Camp for rest and lunch.
  • Continue the descent to Horombo Camp (3,720m). Be cautious during the descent.
  • Arrive at Horombo Camp for dinner and spend the night.
  • After breakfast at Horombo Camp (3,720m), start your descent towards Mweka Village.
  • Embark on a descent towards Mweka Gate, a journey that may vary in duration but typically takes around 3-4 hours.
  • Arrive at Mweka Village, usually greeted with muddy terrain, marking the end of your trek.
  • From Mweka Village, you'll be driven to Springlands Hotel in Moshi, where a hot lunch awaits, providing a satisfying conclusion to your trek.
  • At Springlands Hotel, take a long-awaited and refreshing shower.
  • This is the moment to show your appreciation by giving tips to your guide.
  • You will also receive your well-deserved summit certificates at the hotel. Climbers reaching Stella Point (5685m) receive green certificates, while those conquering Uhuru Peak (5895m) are honored with gold certificates.
  • Spend the night at Springlands Hotel with bed and breakfast provided.
  • Begin your day with an early breakfast at Springlands Hotel in Moshi.
  • Following breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport, which serves as the final point of your remarkable journey.
  • Arrive at the airport in time for your departure flight, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
