Comfortable, affordable stay that gave us a lot of great memories.

Great location. The house boat was the last one in the row, so you have a beautiful, peaceful view of the Dal lake when you sit on the verandah. It is also spacious, with a dining room and a parlour in addition to the bed room. Meals were tasty and substantial. Very friendly host.

Would have liked a TV, what with the World Cup underway, but that was a very minor nitpick. Didnt come to Kashmir to watch TV anyway.

Great Place To Stay In Srinagar

Houseboat Zaindari Palace is in a very good location quiet part of Dal Lake with a mountain view. The rooms are spacious and the washrooms are super clean. Management is also very helpful. The breakfast and dinner are tasty The staff are friendly, and give honest advice about tour/bus/travel itineraries and costs. I would definitely recommend this place:)

A beautiful, authentic Kashmiri experience!

I had a wonderful stay at Zaindari Palace. Imran was very helpful in arranging transport from the airport to the houseboat, which is in a beautiful, isolated, quiet part of Dal Lake, away from traffic and city sounds. Imran prepared delicious home-made Kashmiri meals (veg and non-veg) and was happy to discuss Kashmiri culture and history. I would happily stay again!

There was a problem with the router the day I visited, but Imran provided a hotspot throughout my stay.

Best way to stay in Srinagar

Staying on the Zaindari Houseboat was a unique experience. The houseboat is beautiful and offers a nicely quiet escape from the noisy town. Imran, the owner, is a true original character and does everything he can (almost too much) to make the stay pleasant, and is able to provide valuable information on Kashmir in general, usual prices around the area, and possible places to visit. If I will visit Srinagar again, I will stay there again.

- Payment was a bit inconvenient (going to the ATM and getting the maximum withdraw amount three times in a row), but I understand that credit card fees are too expensive given the relatively few guests that have ventured into Kashmir in recent years. - The shower had warm water, which is nice and requires a lot of effort by the host, but the shower pressure could be increased.

Fantastic, peaceful - best boat on the lake.

This houseboat is the cream of the crop when it comes to staying on Dal Lake. Run by successive generations, the boat itself is gorgeous. Importantly, the boat is situated in a quiet corner of the lake, surrounded by lotus and a plethora of bird life. The owner Imran Zaindari is extremely friendly and will go out of his way to assist you - including avoiding scammers. This stay was the crown jewel of my 3 months in India.

Having been on a business trip to India, I roughly had 2 days to fulfil the wish to visit Srinagar. Hence a little time just to be far much too short to explore Kashmir. Anyhow, I booked a return flight from Delhi, and one of the thousands of houseboats. I happened to be the Zandari Palace Houseboat, located at a quiet end channel behind the floating and busy marketplace in the evening. To be frank, my expectations were not too high as I mange easily to stay in the range between simple and luxury. The best in all is definitely Imram, the owner. The houseboat has seen its best years and some refurbishing would be needed, once the Corona shock has been digested, morally and financially. Imram and many of his fellow boat operators are struggling. I noticed that tourism had not yet started. Among many Indians, I was probably the only foreigner. The good things is that Imram contacted me at his own initiative upfront on my mobile and provided airport pickup, everything to its perfection. He also arranged a visiting trip to Sonamarg. he has many more suggestions about interesting place to visit even the ones near the famous Line of Control. Another good thing is that one feels safe. In overall, once you are more the adventurous traveller, booking the Zandari Palace is booking the knowledge and kindness of Imram. If you are up to luxury accommodation, you may not be satisfied from the overall setting-up.
