Yoga House

I was meant to just stay for 3 nights and ended up staying for 10 days. Laurie, Ram and the team were so hospitable. The home cooked breakfasts and dinners were yummy! The rooms that I stayed in were perfect for my needs..plenty of room - bonus was the east facing balcony which overlooked the most stunning sunrises and not to forget sunsets from the rooftops. If you are into yoga and meditation the practice room on the rooftop is filled with such abundance of energy and sunshine that it will help push your practice further. With the guidance of Laurie and Ram you will are definitely in good hands. I cant wait to go back and spend more time at Ram Yoga House.

I cannot rate Ram Yoga House more highly!! We booked for 3 nights and ended up staying for 10! The rooms are spacious and equipped with all you might need (kettle and even a hairdryer!), but it's the view from the balcony that is truly remarkable! Watching sunrise and sunset from there was a true highlight of our 3mths in India. Laurie, Ram, Nilesh and all the staff in Ram Yoga House go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable and at ease in the property. The food is great and the yoga classes with Laurie were some of the best instruction-led classes I've received. She's an excellent teacher and shows great care and compassion towards her students. The property is centrally located in Mcleodganj, just a short walk to all that you might wish to explore. So if you're looking for a landing spot in Mcleodganj or a homely place to relax and reset, Ram Yoga House is for you!

Very dirty! The toilet looked new, so I started cleaning other parts of the room first, and left it to the last. But upon closer look, there were brownish/blackish marks (poop?) on both sides of the toilet bowl. I was successful in cleaning the (dried and stuck) marks completely on one side of the toilet, but it got too much for me to clean when I saw the underside of the toilet seat, dirty and hair-laden. After partially cleaning it, I took photos to avoid being accused of making things up, and for the readers to judge its cleanliness themselves. This is when it reached the point that I could not stay at this accommodation (after cleaning the room for like 2 hours or so). Besides, we were told not to flush down the used toilet paper but put it in the bin instead or use the bidet spray (due to limitations in the sewage system). We left Yoga House in the early evening once we found a hotel with an acceptable cleaning standard (upon inspection in person). We paid for 7 nights upon arrival at the Yoga House, and no refund was given, which was OK with us. I have a high standard of cleaning, and the 9+ rating for cleanliness (+ having a kitchen sink) is the main reason I booked for Yoga House. But I was deceived (by previous reviews on booking.com) and sorely disappointed. Now I realised that the 9+ rating is probably for the backpacker accommodation standard in India?, and my review may seem unusual here. But I took time to write this review to help people like me avoid the same mistake I made (7-night-stay payment for occupying the room for ~ 7 hours between check-in and check-out, plus the cleaning we did). Besides the toilet, all furniture and the kitchen benchtop were dusty, and we wiped these down, using up many antibacterial wipes we brought. Tips of the taps (faucet aerators) in the kitchen and bathroom were laden with greenish black deposit/grime, which came off a little upon cleaning.
