The Westin Turtle Bay Resort & Spa, Mauritius

- Beach is not suitable for swimming at all due to rocky nature. - Complimentary boat house activities were limited by options and availability. For example, glass bottom boat trips were scheduled twice per day only. Pedal boat had no overhead cover. - Family room had open plan design; toilet/ shower only behind glass doors. Overall makes the matter non-private. I have to acknowledge that they accepted to hang cloth curtains over the entrances which partially helped. Booking had insufficient images or room layout that fully represent the Heavenly Family Suite. - Kids club had good supervision but they did not adhere to their published list of activities. In more than one occasion, we showed up and the activity was either cancelled, delayed, or completely changed. - At the Seasonal restaurant, some staff on certain days showed unacceptable food prep methods. For example, at the prawn station cooked and non cooked prawns were handled using the same gloves . One day at the pasta station, the chef had no gloves at all and handled cooked pasta by hand.

We had an amazing time celebrating my big birthday at Westin Turtle Bay in Mauritius! Special thanks to the room team that decorated the bed on my birthday and to Naheme for organising the lovely birthday cake and card! The staff was welcoming and friendly, going above and beyond to make our stay an unforgettable experience. The facilities are great, lots of open spaces, outstanding gardens and a relaxing environment. Rooms are big and spacious and the turn down service was excellent. The swimming pools are large with an amazing view and a small private beach. Steeven and Pascal looked after us next to the main pool, always ensuring that our drinks were extra cold. Food was amazing, we loved the variety of food at the breakfast buffet, lunchtime bites next to the pool and dinner a la carte in the three restaurants. Special mention to Seam (the boss) for organising dinner and prepping the team in advanced about my sons allergies. We felt safe and reassured. Many thanks to Doomun and Kevin for looking after us at Mystique, where we enjoyed a lovely dinner a la carte. Indian food at Kangan was great and we enjoyed watching the team in the kitchen and the tandoori oven, thanks to Mevin for looking after us. Fusion was definitely our favourite, the sushi by chef Akash and the teppanyaki by chef Madelyn were outstanding! Service by Cedric and Jesca was very nice. The spa was lovely, with relaxing massages. The gym is well equipped , the yoga and Pilates instructor was great! The sport team was dynamic and fun, we really enjoyed the morning jogging and aqua gym with Naheme and Dimitri and kayaking with Winsley. Overall, weve never felt this welcome anywhere else, thank you to the whole team for this unforgettable experience!

We liked most everything except for two things. We were having diner in the main restaurant on our last night. A stray cat came over and I gave it some chicken. The waiter came over and said, "please sir don't feed the cats or they'll all come." My response... jokingly was, "and that's a bad thing why?" Well that was not the correct response for this uptight person, so he actually fetched the manager. Who rushed over to me as if I was defecating on the table. The manager said, "we have special food for them." Yeah, you know what? I believe him to be a liar. They were all malnourished and not well. I personally cannot sit there and throw away food into a bin that I will not eat because I'm full and let an animal go hungry, while watching some fat bastard go up for his 5th round of feedings. That really ruined our night. The cats would run from any staff so that tells me they're being abusive towards the animals. If they did have food for the cats then we wouldn't find ourselves with the cats begging for food in the dining room. There's a solution to the cats. At minimum feed the cats in an area where the guests are not. The cats will go to where the food is. Work with a local animal shelter to ensure they're cared for or create a human plan... perhaps even work on having them fixed to control the cat population. The hotel occupies a beautiful spot. I think it's about time the hotel gave back to the area they inhabit and provide something back to the community. Like caring for these cats instead of chasing them away. The way we treat the weakest members of our world is a direct reflection on the values of the hotel management. The last thing, which to be honest is probably colored by the events from the night before was the morning of checkout. They asked me to sit down for the checkout. I had back pain and did not want to. Standing was more comfortable for me.
