Very welcoming place

The staff is just amazing. They answer very quickly, both for information and problem solving, they immediately fix something that was not working in no time. I have been sick during my stay there and they helped me to get medicine and food. As a solo traveler this has been precious for me. Thank you very much Stella and colleagues! There is free filtered water to refill your bottle with and this great both for convenience and to reduce the use of plastic bottles. I really appreciate this sensible touch. The location is good, in a quiet neighborhood inside from big road, cannot hear traffic, yet walking distance from old town and station. Instructions to enter in case arriving late are very clear. I will definitely be back if I pass again by Hanoi.

It is an old structure and walls are thin, however in my experience people staying there seem very respectful of each other.

Was a little run down. Really thin walls so its like youre sharing with the people next door. Very small bathroom/shower room so makes using shower difficult.

Good location. Staff are very friendly and eager to make recommendations.

We were in the "King Room with Balcony" and found it a bit more cramped than expected, although the table space was nice.

Clean, comfortable and good value for money.

It was very clean, easy check in and out, very comfortable bed - cleanest and freshest sheets I have had in all my travels. Staff very welcoming and provided plenty of information and value!

The only drawback was it is about 25 minutes walk to the old quarter, but grab taxis are so cheap so it balances out. Just be careful on the stairs if youre a bit drunk lol!

Why why did I ever make the booking.

Its an easy walk to the Old Quarter or train station. Staff are friendly.

Its in poor condition. The wooden door frame in the bathroom was rotten. I had the Sunshine room which has a large sliding glass door that separates the hallway from the room. The door provides no soundproofing at all. The lock is difficult to use on the inside but the worst feature is that there is no black-out curtain or screening for the door. Its like sleeping in a fish tank and the light in the hallway shines into the room all night. The homestays washing machine and dryer are situated in the hallway next to the rooms door. I had to ask the staff to turn the machines off at 7pm. But the biggest concern is the fire risk. Access to the rooms on the upper floors is via an old wooden staircase that is in bad repair. And stored under the stairs and around the stairs are pieces of wood and other flammable materials. If a fire started there occupants would be in trouble. I saw no evidence of extinguishers. Granted the building seems to be shared with other residents (e.g. a tattoo parlour) but thats no excuse for a lack of fire safety and the mess at the entrance. To make matters worse the street was being dug up to upgrade the sewerage and other services. This will be an improvement in the future and wasnt something the homestay could manage. However my room was on the first floor and I was kept awake by heavy machinery operating in the street all through the night. Great time to get the work done but not for sleeping. And then the taxi that I requested and paid for in advance didnt arrive. I had to go back to the homestay at 6.30am, log onto the wifi and message the staff member who made the booking. They organised another taxi but I nearly missed my international flight arriving about 3 minutes before boarding at the gate.

You will love your stay here

You will have a wonderful stay in Hanowood Homestay. All staff are extremly nice, Stella guided me to find the place and was available on whatsapp at all times, even in the middle of the night. A nice guy at the reception helped me to fix my broken suitcase. The room is comfortable, bathroom in my double room was big enough. Would highly recommend this place to solo travellers, you will feel safe and taken care of. Location was good to walk everywhere, no need of motorbike in Hanoi for this homestay.

The ONLY thing to be cautious about is the staircase (my room was on top floor and the stairs are not in the best shape on the last floor, so you gotta be careful with luggage).
