Disappointing

Location qnd comfortable bed

The staff were very unhelpful and arrogant. The bathroom/shower was splashing water everywhere. The rooms are tiny.

Noisy room, tiny bathroom, no sleep, no customer services or care

The location

Our room had been changed 3 times on the booking sheet before we got there. The first room we were offered was in the lower basement area and I had booked a room with large windows and a view/ I was told they were full booked. Then they gave us another room we went to it and it still had guests luggage in it. Then we were given another room not of the same quality and with a tiny bathroom. It was so hot we had to have the window open and there were machines working all night. We could barely get into the bathroom and to turn the taps on in the bath was extremely difficult as you had to get into the bath to turn them on. Quite ridiculous and not helpful as I had put my back out and just wanted a bath and a good night sleep. Overall a not very good experience. If you cannot get the basics right you have no right to charge such prices and promote the hotel at that level. It ruined our London experience. We were so tired the next day we went home instead of having a day in London. I reported it in the morning when I was asked how our experience had been and the girl said why did you not tell me. I reminded her she told me the hotel was fully booked so what could she have done. I did however say I expected a manager to call and discuss the matter and no one has bothered. There is a common theme. I still expect a call.

Superb

We would only stay at St. James's when in London , Thank you for a lovely stay.

The politeness of the staff was very welcoming and the room comfort was nice, although a larger room would have offered more convenience. The etiquette in the dining room is excellent and the table linen is impressive.

A larger room with space for my morning exercises !

Staff very attentive without being too fawning. Great location for shopping and West End. Twenty minutes walk to Harrods

Superb

This is going to be my regular hotel for when I am in London

Location is fantastic; staff are incredibly helpful, very nice cooked breakfast. Just a great place to stay when you want to be in the centre of London.

Very poor

Disappointing stay at 500 for a small noisy room, with bathroom issues

Good location and helpful staff

Very little sleep due to small room directly under the bar which was noisy until closing time , then the noise started again as they prepared for breakfast from 6am moving tables, chairs etc. The bathroom smelt of blocked drains, the radiator didn't work and door handle was broken. Notified reception but told there were no other rooms available despite paying 500 without breakfast.

Exceptional

Great hotel, great location with an excellent team.

Stayed at the St James many times in the past due to location and the friendly comfortable atmosphere. The rooms are excellent and we love the decor.

Our only issue was the new policy of closing the bar at 11 and not having a night porter service. Going out in London to the theatre and then for a meal it was always a pleasure to have a drink in the bar when we got back. Such a shame this service has been removed.
