Beaches in Trivandrum for a Sun-kissed Getaway

A captivating beach with nature's beauty at it's prime, Kovalam Beach is considered to be one of the major beaches in Trivandrum and is situated just at a distance of 17 kms. Comprising a group of three remarkable crescent-shaped beaches namely Samudra Beach, Hawwah Beach and Lighthouse Beach, Kovalam is always buzzing with activities.

Set amid a beautiful setting, about 44 km away from the calm and quiet hamlet of Trivandrum in Varkala, Varkala Beach is a beautiful beach renowned for its solitude unlike other commercial beaches of Goa. It is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in Trivandrum.

Shanghumugham Beach, or Shankumugham Beach is situated at a distance of 8 kms from Trivandrum and is one of the most popular beaches in the city. The beach also houses the giant 35 m long sculpture of a mermaid known as matsya kanyaka which is also the prime attraction at the beach.

Puthenthope Beach is situated in Puthenthope, 15 kms away from Trivandrum. Graciously fringed with palm trees, the beach is popular for mesmerizing sunrise and sunset views. But it is comparatively less crowded than the other beaches in Trivandrum and is synonymous with peace and tranquillity.

Veli Beach is situated just 10 kms from the city centre of Trivandrum and is one of the most maintained and touristy beaches of the city. This is one of the beaches in Trivandrum which has a vast garden which has beautiful vegetation, a play area for kids and various attractions.

Mainly known for its 35 m high lighthouse atop Kurumkal hillock, these beach offers are sandy walk and lip-smacking seafood to its visitors. It is situated at a distance of just 20 kms from Trivandrum.

Situated at around 20 kms from Trivandrum, Hawah is a stretch of isolated beach famous for its enchanting sunset views. Renowned as the second largest beach, it is also known as Eve's Beach for it being the first topless beach in India. However, topless bathing is banned now.

A large promontory separates this Northern beach from the southern side. Samudra Beach is where you can enjoy the sight of shoreline fishing and watch local fishermen ply their trade. Situated at just 17.6 kms from Trivandrum, the beach also has a mosque in the vicinity.

Located at a distance of 22 kms from Trivandrum, Vizhinjam Beach is one of the most popular beaches in Trivandrum area which houses a lighthouse and an impressive marine aquarium. The beach is also known to be one of the largest ports in India.

Situated in the southern part of Kovalam, Chowara Beach is popular for its fishing spots and is hardly 3 kms away from Trivandrum. Besides the regular fishermen at work with their huge Chinese fishing nets and big boats, you will also find several picnickers gathered here with their basket of food.

A stunning beach with golden sand and gentle breeze nestled between the gorgeous River Neyyar and Arabian Sea. The swaying coconut palms add to the beauty of this picture perfect beach which is only accessible via a water taxi alone.
